The Looming Threat of Ebola... The Ebola Hemorrhagic fever is a severe viral disease characterized by the sudden onset of harsh fever, intense weakness, muscle pain, headache and sore throat followed by vomitting, diarrhoea, rash, impaired liver and kidney functions and in some cases internal and external bleeding. The incubation period for the disease is 2-21days from the time of infection to the onset of symptoms. The disease is mainly spread through close personal contact with an infected person or animals, often infections have occured among health care workers and family members who were caring for infected relations as they comes into close contact with blood, bodily fluids, secretions and organs containing large amounts of the virus. As yet no known vaccine is available for the effective treatment of the disease so awareness creation of the risk factors of the disease and total avoidance of close physical contact with an infected person or host remains the best shot in fighting this sinister plague!
