The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord - TopicsExpress

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? —Psalm 27:1 NKJV This is a powerful Scripture to decree over your life. The Lord is my light, my salvation, and my strength! Note that this Scripture uses the pronoun my. This brings light, salvation, and strength for life to a personal decree and faith in covenant with the Lord. This is the joy of possessing an eternal covenant with Father God and knowing we can walk by faith through any circumstances because our trust is not in our ability or the circumstances around us but in the Lord. This is also the nature of God in His personal relation to us: “My light, my salvation... the strength of my life.” It is not what we are but who God is that creates a solid ground of confidence in time of trouble. The Word is full of promise for our lives. Light can mean truth, and truth sets us free—free from fear that causes us to make emotional decisions or to react to natural circumstances. In Job 29:3, it says, “When His lamp shone upon my head, and when by His light I walked through darkness.” I love this passage, which gives us a picture of the Lord leading and showing the way. As the world eagerly awaits the morning sun, which represents a new day, we as believers have great anticipation for the word of the Lord for our lives. I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning—yes, more than those who watch for the morning. —Psalm 130:5–6 We wait and anticipate because we know His word is a lamp to us: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Ps.119:105). Our souls rest in the truth that the Lord is our salvation and we have eternal covenant with Him. We rest in the joy of the union we find in Him—where His love and trust anchor us in the depths of faith so we may see that Christ is for us and that all things are working together for our good. Our trust is thus anchored in who the Lord is and, in turn, who He is to us. He is our rock. My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. —Psalm 62:5–8 This is our strength for life. This is the strength that causes us to walk by faith and not by sight. This strength enables us to know every mountain will be removed with shouts of “Grace!” And as we hear, we decree, and it will be established. For the Lord is our strength and our high tower, and we are under the shadow of His wings. This awareness of His Presence always with us—leading us and guiding us and watching over us—gives us strength that the world cannot know. This brings complete deliverance from all fear. Fear has no place when we are rooted and grounded in His love. “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear” (1 John 4:18a). This is the place of well-being in the inner person, the place where life flows for us as believers in Christ. This is the wonderful joy of union with Christ—that we may daily live out of His strength and provision. He is the Captain of our salvation! He is our all in all. With Him, all things truly are possible! Precious friends, have a glory-filled day in the Lord! In His Love and Grace, Keith & Janet
