The Lords Church Ephesians 5:22-27 provides an excellent picture of what the Lords church is all about. The church is the bride of Christ. Gods word says so. But what else? The church is at least six other things. 1. Loved by the Lord: Christ also loved the church. Some folks try to diminish the importance of the church, but the Bible says Jesus loves it. 2. Bought by the Lord: And gave Himself up for it. It has been said that, the value of anything is determined by its purchase price. If this is true, and I believe it is, then the church is of great value. 3. Saved by the Lord: He is the savior of the body. If Jesus saved the church, and He did, then it is saved to the utmost. What about those who make up the church? 4. Subject to the Lord: Christ is also the head of the church...the church is subject to Christ. Since we are in subjection to Christ, He is our king and we are subjects in His kingdom, the church. 5. Cleansed by the Lord: That He might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word. When we were baptized into the body, we were washed in the blood of Christ and saved by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit. (Titus 3:5) 6. Acceptable to the Lord: That He might present the church to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; But that it should be holy and without blemish. Remember God also said, Be ye holy for I am holy. Yes, the church of our Lord is a wondrous institution. It is Loved, Bought, Saved, Subject, Cleansed and Acceptable to the Lord.
