The Low Barrier - Muro Basso “We are the result of an antimafia culture made of heroes”. These are the words used by Michele Gagliardo, talking about the future. In this film we follow a new generation working on goods confiscated to mafia. There is more than one criminal organization in the whole of Italy, and not just in the south. Some of these confiscated goods are apartments, mansions, building areas, and they all have a high symbolic value because they represent the proof of evidence of the imposition by the boss on his territory. In these converted spaces the active involvement of the citizenry becomes crucial. Muro Basso – The Low Barrier is a documentary and a travel across Italy, a country made of cultural islands, where the engagement is fostering the attitude of new generations. It seems like we’re going through a little Renaissance, witnessing a slow revolution. In France they call it Decroissance or Degrowth. Others in America use the expression the Age of Access. To us, it’s the second generation of civic-mindedness.
