The Lubar Interfaith Student Fellows are giving a presentation to UW Housing residents in Leopold Hall (Thursday, March 6, 7:30 pm) Hijab, Shabbat, and Confession, Oh My! – Interreligious Understanding in the Dorms Students from the UWs Lubar Institute will discuss why interfaith dialogue is and has been important to them. These Lubar Interfaith Student Fellows will also provide a number of examples of interreligious interaction in the dorms (i.e., the celebration of holidays, dietary rules, wearing headscarves, differences in prayer practices, etc.). By doing so, the Fellows aim to sensitize attendees to a variety of interreligious issues and improve their ability to address them. Attendees will leave the presentation with a better understanding of the importance of religion and faith in residents’ lives. They will be aware of how to create safe spaces in which students can discuss issues of religious belief and non-belief as well as how to deal with religious conflicts if they arise.
