The Lumbee Revolution Under Chairman Paul Brooks: 1. Tribal Administration is guilty of general malfeasance having been cited by the federal government for misuse of public funds. 2. In gross disregard for tribal law and custom Brooks has been found guilty on six counts of contempt by the Lumbee Supreme Court. 3. Brooks has openly abused his authority in the NC Court System in actions where he has brought suit against tribal members with at least one case ending in the State assuming jurisdiction in a tribal matter. 4. Brooks is refusing to answer any questions about his decision to hire a former tribal administrator (Rose Marie Lowery-Townsend) who was fired in 2011 after the Tribal Council learned that she was being paid more than the salary approved for that position. The Tribe had to return $24,400 of Townsend’s consulting pay to HUD because the agency determined that her services had not been obtained through proper federal procurement procedures and the $110 per hour consulting fee was greater than the per-hour fee permitted by HUD. 5. Brooks has signed a document with the US Federal Government to reduce HUD funds to your Tribal communities and family members over the next 2 years in order to repay funds that the Lumbee Tribal Administration illegally used. The funds total over $400,000! You, as a Lumbee Tribal member, have the constitutional right to recall said chairman.
