The Lundy News Media Awards for Sunday, August 24, 2024. TELEVISION: KNBC/4, Los Angeles, for simulcasting NBC o&o, KNTV/11, San Jose--marketed as NBC Bay Area. KNBC rolled right past 8 am, when Meet the Press was scheduled, to continue coverage. RADIO: KCBS, San Francisco. After a bit of a shaky start with a barely-competent weekend overnight anchor, KCBS quickly got it together with six reporters covering all angles of the North Bay/Napa earthquake. RADIO RUNNERUP: KNX, Los Angeles--actually more together earlier than KCBS, and using all resources available. (Sad both KCBS and KNX are still held hostage by CBS suits in New York, requiring them to run so much of that poorly-produced, sloppy CBS filler material. KCBS went without it for a while. KNX coverage was so good I actually overlooked the crap for quite a while.)
