The Macon County Board of Education is scheduled to meet tonight at 6pm in the Administrative Offices at 1202 Old Murphy Road in Franklin. Mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 70s and winds out of the southwest. 50% chance of afternoon and evening thundershowers with rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. HAZARDS Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to form again across the region this afternoon and evening. Some of these storms will have heavy rain and may produce localized flash flooding where drainage is poor. A few of these storms will become severe, producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and dangerous lightning. TROPICAL WEATHER Shower and thunderstorm activity remains minimal in association with a low pressure area located about 210 miles east-southeast of St. Augustine, Florida. Environmental conditions are forecast to become more conducive for development during the next few days and a tropical depression is likely to form by mid-week while the system moves slowly southwestward, then north and northeastward near the southeastern United States coast. An Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft is scheduled to investigate the low this afternoon, if necessary. * Formation chance through 48 hours...high...60 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...high...80 percent.
