The Magic in the Rain Am I a dreamer/ For wishing each Easter That the stories they told were proper? That if we went swimming we’d transform into an aquatic creature Like Abdullah the fisherman and Abdullah the Merman and the adventures of Bulukiya There something magical in the rain It washes away the pain Basking in it ambiance and sliding in the drain As it gently kisses my cheeks And splashes my feet As a boy I use to run up and down the street Bathing in my briefs The humid breeze comes first with your senses it flirts When it touches the hot earth Your sense become alert Whether comes hard or comes in spurts I love it more when it quenches my thirst Then as it pelts the roof and acts as my night nurse Dancing in the rain Its melodies sooths the brain A dolphin I would feign Or pretend to be a thane As I slide in the drain avoiding the skein When I get older and have to walk with a cane due to pain And the doctors tell me I have to abstain I’ll sneak away and seek its arcane To stay sane I ask my family and when I die do not complain It was preordained But bury me in the mountain Cause I intend to be hanging with the angels and dancing in the rain.
