The Mangere Phone-Napper (Phone Snatcher) Where it happened: A Take-away shop in Mangere East, Auckland, New Zealand (The shop’s name will not be disclosed in respect of their privacy) When it happened: Saturday 02 August 2014 – 12:21pm What happened: Phone-napping. The owner of the iPhone in the video accidentally left his phone on the counter of this takeaway shop. He then proceeded to enjoy his meal at a table not far from where he left his phone (just out of shot of the camera to the right), not expecting what was about to unfold. The douchebag criminal entered the store, saw the phone, and his greed got the better of him. He looked around nervously at the owner of the phone and pretended to make small talk with the take-away staff in an attempt to divert any suspicion. When the staff member had his back turned, the thief sneakily slips the phone into his pocket before walking off in a hurry. Yes, the iPhone owner was careless, but that is not an excuse to justify what the thief did – he knowingly/deliberately took what does not belong to him, that is stealing, and that is against the law. The fact that he turned around nervously (twice), to see whether the owner of the phone would notice, just shows the acknowledgement that he knew what he did was wrong. If you can identify this man, or have any information on him at all, please send us the information via private message, and we will pass the information on to the police (police complaint has already been filed and we have already provided the CCTV footage to the police). Please refrain from posting any personal information publicly on this page, as misidentification could damage the reputation of the misidentified individual Please share this page as you see fit - The more this is shared, the more likely we will be able to remove this opportunistic predator from our community. Do we really want opportunistic thieves like this guy in our neighbourhood? (The correct answer is no! :P) Dishonesty does not belong in our community, so let’s bring this douchebag criminal down! Keep New Zealand a wonderful place to live. Thank you for your time!
