The Marine Advertising Agency Tournament Welcome to Goals - TopicsExpress

The Marine Advertising Agency Tournament Welcome to Goals Southampton, tonight we have the privilege of hosting the annual Boat Show Tournament! With Matchtech 1 the current holders, they returned with one thing on their mind and that was to retain their cup. Tonight’s tournament would work by 4 divisions, the top 2 going through to the cup and the bottom 2 going through to the plate competition. The early favourites for the up seemed to be Peters and May, who came runners up last year, with some familiar Goals faces in their side. So we will start with the Plate Competition and Quarter Finals looked like this: Marine Resources v LDC Sailing - The LDC Sailing came out on top here walking away the victors, the Marine lads played with great team spirit and were full of banter, however unfortunately for them LDC Sailing just had too much class. TRMG v Southampton Football Club - Now before everyone gets excited, we didn’t have the graces of Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana with us tonight, however some the SFC guys played like them on the pitch and they went through to the semi finals with a crushing 6-1 victory over a shocked looking TRMG side. Clipper Ventures v Bainbridge International - Clipper’s were looking to cerement their place in the semis against Bainbridge, but they would have to play very well to beat a strong looking Bainbridge side. Clipper’s did play fairly well but just didn’t seem to have their shooting boots on tonight as Bainbridge sealed a 4-0 win. PSP Logistics v Dean and Reddyhoff - Dean and Reddyhoff were Payner’s favourite team tonight in their Celtic like tops and one of their players sporting my own football socks as he had forgotten his...not naming him (but his surname was Swain)... however even Payner’s Lucky Socks weren’t enough to push them through as PSP won 4-2. Semi Finals: LDC Sailing v Southampton Football Club - SFC looked hot favourites after their master class in the quarter finals... and they continued their form but were pushed all the way by LDC Sailing in a thrilling game which ended 4-2 to SFC. Who would they face in the final? PSP Logistics v Bainbridge International - Many people fancied Bainbridge to meet SFC in the final, however PSP showed great team work and individual skill to snatch a 2-0 victory and cause a shock. Final: Southampton Football Club v PSP Logistics - this was it the big match for the Plate... the bookies favourites were SFC who had really found their form in the later stages of this tournament. However PSP had proved not to be pushovers and this was really anybody game... the final was a great battle and lots of technical class and skill was on show; however it was SOUTHAMPTON FOOTBALL CLUB that won 3-1... To be honest the SFC lads had worked their socks off and deserved the success, but you had to feel sorry for the PSP lads, who had come all that way! Cup: Matchtech 1 looked to retian their Cup, and after the group stages they would have to stop the likes of Peters and May & Arch Rivals Matchtech 2! Quarter Finals: The Yacht Market v Crewsaver - the first quarter final would see the impressive Yacht Market come up against minnows, Crewsaver who had just scrapped into the Cup final stages. And it was the favourites in The Yacht Market who brushed away Crewsaver. Aaap3 v Matchtech 1 - So the pressure was on, the holders of the trophy had to overcome the testing side of aaap3...and of course they did it! Matchtech 1 walked away with a 3-1 victory to take themselves into the Semis. Marine Ad Agency v Peters and May - Payner had predicted that Peters and May would be the team to steal the cup form Matchtech 1 this year, so the pressure was placed upon them not to let him down, and they didn’t as they beat Marine Ad Agency with the scoreline ending 4-1. Matchtech 2 v PICU - The team of Matchtech 2 had looked like the team to ebat so far in this tournament and looked to stamp their authority and send a message to the other teams... they did this by seeing off PICU with a 4-0 thrashing. So we had our Semi Finals... The Yacht Market v Matchtech 1 - could the holders guarantee their spot in the final... NO!!!! The Yacht Market team managed to pull together and pull of a shock as they beat Matchtech 1 on penalties to book their place in the final. Matchtech 2 v Peters and May - So with one Matchtech team out already in was down to these guys to keep the chance alive of the cup staying in the family... and they didn’t disappoint as they beat the strong looking Peters and May 7-4, this game was goals galore considering we only played 10 minutes and saw 11 goals! Final: The Yacht Market v Matchtech 2 - so final time and a good crowd had gathered to watch the final. Both teams put everything on the line and gave it their all. It was 1-1 at the end of time so the final would be decided on penalties. Goal, goal, miss, save, goal, goal - let to sudden death and The Yacht Market miss... Matchtech 2 step up and...GOAL! MATCHTECH 2 WIN!
