The Marlboro Men In a country where a vast middle class - TopicsExpress

The Marlboro Men In a country where a vast middle class idolizes the Army officers and Generals, criticizing the criminals becomes offense. If you ask them why you idolize the army generals, they will not have a coherent answer as there is not a single achievement by the generals and officers that can be cited as an example of good. With bad behaviour all around leading the middle class by the nose, the expectation that a civilian court can actually dare to ask a general to present himself in court is an enigma. It hurts the hero worshipping hordes, who follow them like sheep. The unfortunate fact the Marlboro men really consider themselves heroes goes to show the imagined world they live in. The shock is not about a case, what is shocking to them is their perceived righteousness is actually bogus, and an army General has to stand before a civilian judge to be declared a traitor to the Nation. All the goodness of their righteous campaign, all the noble intentions of their light-bringing crusade -- all had been for naught, it seemed. Theirs was indeed a lamentable tragedy. Here was real suffering, raw and anguished. What were they talking about exactly? What was this pinnacle, this extraordinary achievement whose great moral worth has now been besmirched?
