The Mars Rover has finished collecting enough evidence for scientists to conclude that the red planet was at some point habitable. The requirements of water and an energy source, the presence of carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, phosphorous and nitrogen, and a lot of time have all been identified by the Rover. That said, determining what is scientifically defined as life is a highly contested debate, and the Rover possesses no instruments to detect what is thus not entirely defined. That said, a selfie with a skeleton of a Martian might do it. Cooed from NYT
