The Metropolitan Museum of Art is absolutely Amazing... I wasnt in the mood for artifacts only because I thought the audio tour would best emphasize that section. I rushed to the historical paintings second floor displays were I just stood in awe... Of course then I started to get annoying. asking questions Sir I dont see any texture on these can you explain that... I see some here, but these... how can that be you have to understand that Ive been around art... Master art pieces and antiques ever since I was a kid. Classic art. When I made my own regional artist friends at 18yo they could not believe my knowledge. With those artists... I learned to break the rules. How its the eye of the beholder that makes it art. Some fab, some crazy and I learned more about visual temporary art than never before. I have to admit being acquainted with Britto, Moore, Link and many other world class artists... much later I had never been exposed to some of the stuff that I saw at Bluestar in San Antonio with my ol friend Rudy and his friend Franco who later became a good buddy and their friends. At times some of those artists were kooky, but I learned to appreciate their work and not judge... Also to keep my trap shut! I had never seen anything like these artists before or since. That is definately true. Todays usher answered my question by stating that the pieces have undergone a restoration process. I figured that, but I was thinking some of the paintings would best be appreciated at night. I recognized Rembrandt immediately and fell in love with this teenage boy roughdrafting a piece while his dad looked over... I asked Isnt this self portrait the most famous one? They shrugged... lol... pretty sure it is. I Love Rembrandt he has an ability to pierce the onlooker with his subjects eyes. Like no one else. Just early this year I watched a movie about a stolen Rembrandt painting. I couldnt find it today, but I will go back to look. I loved the bathing of Bethesda (I think that was the name), the portrait of the Virgin Mary and A beautiful pale girl just staring so delicately. Didnt catch all the names, but Ill make sure to do so and take pics. I was looking for a curator to start some shit and insist that Christs painting is in the completely wrong frame, but I did not see anyone and as I admired the rest in that beautiful room... I considered Oh, in my opinion its too light, but perhaps it is to distinguish it from the others. The Asian-Indian wing was remarkable... and it made me smile to remember that I used to be entirely bored in the building as a child having these rooms to myself. I just smiled paying tribute to the beloved Luisito that so bored and wanted to get the heck out of these places... lol... I also loved a table that I sat on for a few minutes to take a breather it was not an art piece but the nice women and I were impressed. Like always my attention was called when I just had to touch some sarcophaguses. Imagine that. lol... Lovely museum... lovely place. Met some nice guys yesterday as well as having great conversation with some ladies. Today as well, Thank you MET!
