The Ministry of Natural Resources own staff have come out publicly and stated in the 2003 Nuisance Bear Committee report that hunting does not resolve bear issues. The only effective tool is education such as the Bear Wise program. This was cancelled by the Liberal government. The reintroduction of the spring bear hunt is a political ploy to gain votes in the north. It has nothing to do with safety. Other peer-reviewed research supports the premise that hunting has no effect on safety or nuisance issues. Please sign the petition!
