The Monday night Jam at the Blue Room was handled masterfully by TJ Martley and his trio Monday night and I must say that my amazement at the number and quality of original compositions being written by KC Jazz musicians grows and grows every time I get out and about. Saturday night it was the tunes of Gerald Spaits and his quartet at Take 5 (see video below) and tonight (Monday) we were treated to some of the works of TJ Martley and his trio (Brian Steever on drums and Andrew Stinson on bass) which were artfully woven in with a couple of Keith Jarrett tunes. To represent the music offered up Monday night I chose an original tune which I’m almost certain is one of TJ’s. Lost my notebook so I’m not sure of the name either but I couldnt wait to post it because great jazz is great jazz whether you know the name of the tune or not so listen up and enjoy. TJ would you please comment and let me know the title and if it’s your’s or not so I can fill in the blanks? Please listen with phones, buds or something. https://youtube/watch?v=BkSXfnfECTs
