The Monster for Migration just gets worse, and his White Supremacist cheer squad love him for it. They dont care that families now in Australia face refoulement to be tortured, including the gang rape of their wives, mothers and children even, having their legs broken and other terrors and death. They call them economic migrants because it avoids facing the truth about why these people risked all to come here seeking sanctuary. They dont care that all the rhetoric about queues and illegals and people smuggler rings are lies. The hate only works if you deny the truth. Ten of 16 people convicted for people smuggling between 2001 and 2006 were indeed refugees themselves. There is no evidence that international criminal networks are organising asylum boats to Australia. Most often travel arrangements are made by local or refugee communities, motivated by a mix of profit and altruism. It is a part of the Immigration ministers propaganda that a “people smugglers’ business model” exists. But the simple fact is that many asylum seekers remain stranded en route to Australia in poor countries that have not signed the Refugee Convention and do not accept refugees, like Malaysia and Indonesia and without unauthorised travel agents, asylum seekers would not get to Australia. Mr Morrison has claimed the humanitarian high ground, saying that efforts to “stop the boats” are designed to stop asylum seekers making dangerous boat journeys and avoid deaths at sea. In fact the government’s “deterrence” policies and its criminalisation of people smuggling makes boat journeys to Australia much more dangerous.
