The Morning Report 12/19/14 It is Friday morning and shortly the weekend begins; I’m still amazed at how quickly the days and weeks pass now. I have learned from our daughter Dawn a little about “cloud”. I found out that it is not the fluffy white (sometimes other colors) thing that we see floating in the sky. It is not the thing that brings rain and thunder and lightning (but I suppose that it could be frightening if all your stuff that was there was lost or hacked). As Cousin Malcolm said it is the big device in computer land that lets you store information and enables you to retrieve it from any other computer. You can allow other folks access to this information (I allowed Kathy, Dawn and Jackie). Now I have to actually figure out how it works. I was able to get on it from my phone and my tablet and have not tried it from the computer and I’m not sure when I will but one morning when I wake up real early and get done with all my other items that I habitually do are done I will try it. Of course this means that I’ve had to add something to my memory banks that are probably close to being filled so who knows whether I’ll remember all of this new stuff or not. I remember being young and being told that we should learn something each day and now that I’m older; I’m not sure that I learn something new each day but remember something that I knew but forgot over the years. With all the new technology that is out there it is very hard not to learn something most every day and we do. With the new cars that are out there, they are so different from the cars of our youth. The cars now days take days, weeks and months to learn everything that they will do for you and I believe that with Kathy’s car I will probably never learn all the things that it will do for us; Kathy has studied it quite a bit and knows a lot more about the electronic items that are in there. I’m not sure that I want to know all that it will do. I do like the navigation systems that are installed in some of the cars and like being able to find stuff without really having to get directions. Our phones have this but Kathy’s car doesn’t but with the phones; we are able to find places that would have been a challenge otherwise and sometimes you get to see places that you really did not want to see. Kathy is able to start her car by mashing a button the correct way (I have to be told how to do it each time I do it) and this is a nice option in that the car can be running and get warm before you get in it. We are getting spoiled with all the options that are in cars; I remember when the heater was a blanket and you hoped that the windows would roll up and stop the wind. Card board was placed in front of the radiator to keep it from freezing while you were driving and ruining an engine. No I don’t miss those old days.
