The Morning Report 4/21/14 Each and every day is a new day that we awake to; we get to decide what we are going to do today and whether or not it is a day to go to work. Kathy and I have retired and we still get to decide what kind of work that we do each and every day and usually it is something. There is a few days that we don’t do a whole lot but usually those are few and far between. Yesterday was spent mostly playing in the piles of political rhetoric (horse manure). One mountain is gone and the other one has been started on. One hay field has had several tons of political rhetoric applied to it and now it is up to Mother Nature to make the grass grow. Of course there is the fact that it still needs to drug and aerated and probably have a dose of herbicide applied to it but that is a minor thing. Hopefully the manure will enhance the grass and produce a bountiful hay crop. If the work put into to it helps increase the hay production, it will be a lot better. The number 59 cow had her calf, a beautiful white face, black heifer. I saw it when I came home from breakfast and the first thing that I noticed was the pretty white face on the heifer. Mom and calf seem to be doing well and were in the middle of me loading the first load of manure and then I went to the other pile to get all the plastic from under the loads that were delivered. The folks that deliver the loads decided that their dump trailer would be better if it had a no slip rhino liner applied to the bed of the trailer and it was. Now they have to put plastic down to get the manure to slid out of the trailer. This is okay for them but creates a problem for me because I have to move the manure off of the plastic before it gets loaded onto the spreader or it will either jam the spreader or I will have to pick it up in the field in pieces. There is always some pieces that have to get picked up but that would be a terrible waste of time so I go over and pile the manure up and remove the plastic. I have been a bit negligent in removing the plastic for the last few months and now I have spent a lot of time getting all of that plastic removed. It is a lot better if I go do it the day it is delivered but I do procrastinate a lot and sometimes it really gets the best of me; but anyhow all the plastic has been removed and the next pile is ready to be applied to another field. We ran out of political rhetoric doing the first field so we finished it out with the homemade black cow and it will be interesting to see if there will be a difference in the growth of the grass from the different kinds. I will be willing to bet that the black cow does somewhat better. Today the RV repairman is supposed to be here to see if he can fix the problem with the satellite dish on the RV it is not locating a signal and it is supposed to do that automatically. The Direct TV guy would do anything except say I wasn’t getting a signal and that I would have to get an RV guy to look at it. Now I expect that the RV guy will say that I have to get the Direct TV guy to look at it but that is life and we will live through it although it will aggravate me. We have to have the satellite on the RV’ we are about to go fishing and there is virtually no TV reception up there and at least with the satellite; we can watch a little TV. Y’all have a great and wonderful day and remember to take a moment to smell the roses!
