The Morningside Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. is excited to announce that we have been able to strike a deal with the Allentown Road Volunteer Fire Department and purchase their 2001 Spartan Luverne pumper that was run from Company 47s quarters. The pumper will replace the 1990 Pierce Arrow pumper (purchased from the Silver Hill VFD) that is currently Engine Co. 27; which suffered a catastrophic mechanical failure in the engine rendering the apparatus unusable. This purchase is another landmark in the Organizations History as it has been facilitated by the hard work of the Departments Leaders, Members and the Town of Morningside. The Town of Morningside has agreed to once again partner with the Fire Department to ensure the new pumper can receive the mechanical repairs and updates it needs to last. We thank everyone for their support and look forward to getting the new piece in service. We would also like to recognize the Prince Georges County Fire / EMS Department, Prince Georges County Fire Commission and the PGFD Apparatus Maintenance Division for their support in this endeavor and are excited to announce that we are going to be able to continually provide fire suppression services through a reliable means.
