The NW LoopFest: the greatest, most creative musical event youve - TopicsExpress

The NW LoopFest: the greatest, most creative musical event youve never heard of is here for its third year. What is “looping?” Basically it is using hardware and/or software technologies to instantly record and play back sound. It has come a long way from its origins in magnetic tape. Since then, it has expanded through technologies and genres across the globe knowing no boundaries for niche or style. The NW LoopFest kicks off at the Royal Room in Seattle on Thurs/Fri Oct 9/10 at 6pm. The Royal Room is located at 5000 Rainier Ave in Seattle. Free Show. Saturday Oct 11th is in Portland, OR with an all day marathon of live looping on two stages at the Analog Café and Theatre at 720 SE Hawthorne, $5 Cover. Oct 12th wraps up the NW LoopFest with shows at Caprice Vineyards - 6pm, Club 66 - 5pm, and Milagro’s 7pm with mini-showcases as a part of Edgy in October for Ashland/Medford in Southern OR. Performers from Mexico, Sweden, France, Japan, Italy, Canada, and Slovakia mix it up with U.S. artists for an intense, international display of music and technology. All of the artists are highly talented, highly creative, highly interesting, and amazingly diverse in technologies and styles. Some are noise, some use traditional song forms, some are ambient, some are powerful, some are subtle. The only commonality being looping. Instruments include the Chapman stick, saxophone, guitar, vocals, keyboards, clarinet, flute, mandolin, Chinese instruments, drums, electronics, home-made instruments, and bass. Complete line-ups for whose playing on what night are online at: nwloopfest. Links to artist websites and video recorded performances from last year’s festivals are there along with facebook links for those who want to personally interact with the festival and performers, as well as links to stream the concerts live. Please come out to the shows, bring your friends and enjoy looping performers from around the world. nwloopfest
