The National Aboriginal Council of Midwives Launch Aboriginal Midwifery Toolkit Yesterday in Toronto, Stephen Harper began a 3 day international summit Saving Every Woman, Every Child. In 2010 his gov claims to have dedicated 2.85 billion dollars to international maternal and child health in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Mali & Mozambique (though there is no public accounting for these #s and critics are very skeptical). Indigenous healthcare professionals and midwives here on Turtle Island were excluded from the forum, and continue to be chronically underfunded by the conservative government.
