The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) today embarked on the validation exercise of its eagerly awaited strategic plan for 2014-2018 period. The strategic plan undertakes to strengthen the capacity of the entire staff in the National Police Service while ensuring that complaints, investigations, security and human resources reflect a reformed police service. The forum was chaired by NPSC Chairman Johnston Kavuludi and was also attended by Commissioners Mohamed Murshid,Ronald Musengi and Mary Owuor. The key stakeholders in attendance included Police Reforms Working Group, the Kenya Police Service, Administration Police Service, International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) and the Independent Medical Legal Unit (IMLU). Mr. Kavuludi, while opening the forum, called for a free exchange of views saying this would greatly assist in coming up with a comprehensive document that would help achieve the mandate of the NPSC. He said the journey to transform the National Police Service from a force to a service was challenging but expressed hope that this would be overcome once the necessary regulations and road-map are in place.
