The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the Maryland part of the Chesapeake Bay, the tidal Potomac River and adjacent counties in Northern Virginia, Central Maryland and D.C. Showers and scattered thunderstorms are expected to affect the area this afternoon and evening. Thunderstorms will contain heavy downpours, which could lead to localized flash flooding. A few of the thunderstorms may also produce locally damaging, gusty wind.
