The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a high surf advisory for south-facing shores of all Hawaiian islands, which is in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday. A low east of New Zealand last week generated a swell that will continue to affect the islands today. Surf: 5 to 8 feet along south-facing shores. Timing: Through 6 p.m. Wednesday. Impacts: Moderate. Expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous. Precautionary/preparedness actions: Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution
