The Natural History Museum of Jamaica (NHMJ), a division of the Institute of Jamaica (IOJ), will benefit from a grant of US$77,500, to pursue an environmental conservation project jointly with the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science in Miami, Florida. The grant was disbursed by Museums Connect, a joint initiative of the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the American Alliance of Museums (AAM). The Natural History Museum of Jamaica aims to advance scientific research and education by collecting, storing, and maintaining specimens of Jamaica’s plants and animals and educating Jamaicans on the importance of preserving the island’s natural history.
