The Navasota Police Department will be hosting Treats on the Streets on Thursday, Oct. 31. The event will start at 6 p.m. Candy will be handed out by local organizations and businesses that will be set up along the 200 block of Holland Street. Once again, a one-way access will begin at Holland and LaSalle streets near Snowflake Donut. The route will end in the parking area for city hall, where a costume contest will be held at 7 p.m. Local dancers from AP Dance Dimensions will be on hand to entertain the crowd prior to the start of the contest. Participants will be divided into the following age categories: zero to three, 4 through kindergarten, first through third grade, and fourth through fifth grade. Trophies will be awarded to participants placing first through third. Last year’s event attracted approximately 1,000 people that trick or treated for candy provided by businesses, as well as civic and church groups.
