The New Testament Baptist Church was organized as the Fundamental - TopicsExpress

The New Testament Baptist Church was organized as the Fundamental Baptist Church on Sunday, March 21, 1943, with 34 charter members in a rented store building on South Main Street. From its inception, the New Testament Baptist Church has been committed to the conservative and traditional path of independent, fundamental Baptists. The teaching and preaching has promoted the inspiration of the Scriptures, the virgin birth of Jesus, the deity of Christ, and second coming of Jesus Christ. The church and the leadership have consistently promoted salvation by grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus at Calvary. While denominations and movements were questioning the validity of the Scriptures, our church has only used the King James version of the Bible for preaching, and throughout the classrooms and ministries. Recognizing the Lord’s mandate to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the world, baptize converts, and make disciples, the New Testament Baptist Church has emphasized local church missionaries and personal soul winning. Controversial at times, our church has not abandoned the Biblical teaching of personal holiness and separation from the world. Living in an ever-evolving culture should not determine the direction, emphasis, and teachings of a local New Testament church. The methods and message of the local church must be determined by the Bible. The Bible is a supernatural Book that is still relevant and powerful. In an effort to be consistent with our ideals, the teaching, preaching, music, atmosphere, decorations, advertising, and our guest speakers must promote the “old paths.” This should also be reflected by the revivals, crusades, conferences, and Bible colleges we support and promote. The New Testament Baptist Church endeavors to stay faithful to the teachings of the Bible, but also strives to be true to the “old paths” (Jeremiah 6:16) by not removing the “ancient landmarks” (Proverbs 22:28) of old-time, independent, fundamental Baptists. Our church is not seeking to “blaze” a new trail, but rather follow the “waymarks” (Jeremiah 31:21) that are faithful to the “old paths.”
