The No1 song in the US on this day, September 29th 1977, was Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band by Meco, from the album Star Wars And Other Galactic Funk. It peaked at NO7 in the UK. Meco goes by the real name Dominique Menardo. Along with this composition he also released some more pieces based on Close Encounters of the Third Kind and The Wizard of Oz and in 1982 he charted with Pop Goes The Movies. If you were older than 13 in the mid-70s you just might flashback to disco roller skating (sorry I had to put this in your head) (yes kiddies it was a real thing). Star wars geeks with keen ears might even notice that many of the different characters themes are incorporated into the 10 minute version of the song. Such as Imperial March being played whenever a Darth Vadar part in story comes up. One last bit of trivia: The Cantina Band Song actually had a title. It was called Mad About Me and it was played by a fish headed quartet called...... I shit you not......Figrin Dan and the Modal Nodes. Heres the first part of the song, Star Wars Theme(you really didnt want all 10 minutes of this did you?).....Enjoy!
