The Northern Territory and Federal governments have struck a deal to overcome labour shortages with a new migration agreement. The new deal includes a controversial clause which means some overseas workers on 457 visas in Darwin could be paid 10 per cent less than foreign workers in other parts of Australia. It has sparked a furious response from unions who say the Government wants to open the floodgates to overseas workers. But the Assistant Immigration Minister, Michaelia Cash, hotly disputes that claim.
