The Nose Work Trail Diary... continues: Three days out from NW2 Longmont. C is texting me, its 7:57 pm, tent logistics, advising me to unpack the new car tent from its box. I am letting C be the tester of the set up, tent looks good, we will pitch side by side in the parking lot, feeling more like a groupie at a rock concert. The car gadetry is an important part of our Mountain Nose Work. Otherwise we sit in our cars, disconnected from each other, not particularly comfortable and do the brain tease and feeze. You know- the part where a trail-competition overwhelms reality and you imagine loosing all ability to focus on your dog and hope you or your dog dont pee during the search ! So instead we have opted for parking lot and car gadetry to calm our nerves especially in the morning and then become a safe haven throughout the day. When we arrive on Sat at the trial site, the parking lot games begin ! Just look for the two silver shrouded Subarus with Colorado WUF plates and blue tents bulging off their backside. Such fun with my Nose Work dog and our best dog friends.
