The Nupes being led by their paramount ruler- The Etsu Nupe are right now celebrating Nupe day in Bida, Niger state. Information reaching me indicates that the occassion is well graced by both the mighy and small across The country; courtesy of the mobilisation potential of the ETSU NUPE. The highlight of the occassion is the turbaning of both the distinguished and undistinguished Nupe sons and Daughters. While congratulating the The ETSU NUPE for the successful holding of the historical event, i hasten to say that: we are fervently waiting for a quick transformation of this cultural gathering into a consensus socio-political platform through which the Nupes would apply and assert themselves for their economic well being and rapid development of their land and the country in general. The prevalence bad economic and socio-political conditions of our people and their land call for a serious concern of our leaders. For instance, all the roads leading to Bida the venue of the occassion, are in their worst embarrassing situation, public schools especially the rural based ones and dominated by the children of the poor, lack basic facilities and teachers, our farmers lack basic implements and inputs etc. Our leaders must therefore look beyond cultural celebrations or frivolous ceremonies. The should abandon their comfort zones and act for the well being of the common man. The leaders; whether traditional or political must fear God and do what they have accepted to do.
