The Oakland Police Department requests assistance from the media and the community in identifying and locating a theft suspect. Investigators have released two photos of a person they believe to be responsible for a cell phone theft committed on February 2, 2014, at 1:30 AM, in the 1900 block of Telegraph Avenue. The Suspect is described as an African American male, 20-25 years old, 5’9”, 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. BACKGROUND: On February 2, 2014, at 1:30 AM, the victim was walking in the 1900 block of Telegraph Avenue. The suspect reached into the victim’s purse and removed her cellular phone. The suspect fled the area on foot with the cell phone. The investigation is on-going and anyone with information is asked to contact the Oakland Police Department’s Theft Unit at (510) 238-3779. The Oakland Police Department and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest in this case.
