The Old and the New: A covenant fulfilled by the promise of God - TopicsExpress

The Old and the New: A covenant fulfilled by the promise of God Hebrews 8:4-10) The entire Old Testament and the covenant God made with the people of Israel was built on the law. This was never meant as a permanent solution, for God knew we could never perfectly obey the law. Everything God assigned Moses to do in the wilderness was to help lead His people back to Him. But most of the Israelites did not receive it as God’s leading and teaching. God’s people needed to understand that they could not achieve perfection in the law. They were meant to feel their need for a mediator–someone who could go to God on their behalf. This was the intent of the original high priests, but even they could not bring the people back to Eden, when man and woman walked in the very presence of God. These priests, like the law, were another tool to point the people towards God’s ultimate gift to His people—the Messiah (the Christ). In Christ, God’s Word is not just a tool to use; it is alive powerfully in our minds, hearts, and souls, offering us life every day with Jesus, from now and into eternity. Jesus is our High Priest and mediator. Call out to Him today. Cry out to Him. Come to Him and He will touch you, heal you, and carry you through whatever fire you are facing. You are not alone. God has a much better plan for us than we could ever write on our own. Trust in the one whose love is unconditional. Rely on the one who died so we may live forever in Him. God, thank You so much that I can have an intimate relationship with You. The barrier of sin is gone and paid for. Thank You so much for sending Your son to be my perfect high priest. Amen What do you specifically need the mediation of Christ for today?
