The Omaha Corral of the Westerners met tonight with Paul Hedrens - TopicsExpress

The Omaha Corral of the Westerners met tonight with Paul Hedrens first meeting as sheriff - to mark the occasion he brought in an old friend who just happens to have a best-selling book! Jerome Greene spoke before an audience of 75 about his newest book, American Carnage: Wounded Knee, 1890. Just released but already headed to its second printing, the book is the most complete accounting available of the tragic events that took place nearly 125 years ago. Greene spoke of the events of the day, but also of the research and writing for the book (published by University of Oklahoma Press). We were honored to many new faces at the meeting along with old friends; special guests included Michael Smith, executive director of the Nebraska State Historical Society, and Dennis Garstang, sheriff of the Kansas City Posse of the Westerners.
