The Orange Parade. The shoes all polished. The gloves so white. The suits all pressed. Collarettes just right. The drum sets the beat so strong and so loud. The flags and the standards all flying so proud. Each Lodge on their order step out with great pride. And festoon with bright colours the Avenues wide. The flutes and accordions play melodies sweet. As the bandsmen assemble to take to the street. The hearts start to quicken as the marchers make step. The Field is their goal. Their mind has been set. And all of the people who stand by the way Are cheering and clapping. Enjoying their day. Scenes from the Bible bedeck every banner. Great men and battles depict in all manner. Orange Lilies and Shamrocks and “Red, White and Blue” Bring to mind of our heritage in each shade and hue. And as I join with them, my heart filled with pride. Nothing can quench my feelings inside. For ne’er has there ever been ought that’s man-made That excites me so much as an Orange Parade.
