The Osmonds: ‘Hold Her Tight’ (From the album ‘Crazy Horses’ (1972)). In the early months of this page we posted The Osmonds playing the single ‘Crazy Horses’ – and called it a very fine Rock song, which, if it had been released by a band of Rock renown – or if The Osmonds hadn’t been a teeny-bop phenomenon band – would have been, and would still be, recognised as such… PHEW! – Did that cause a storm of a debate – very lively thread that one! – Some agreed, and some disagreed – er… very much… Anyhoo – here’s a track from the ‘Crazy Horses’ album: ‘Hold Her Tight’ – it caused, and still causes, some controversy, as it is claimed by some to be a bit of a rip-off of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Immigrant Song’ - judge for yourselves. I think that there is a kinda similarity (or maybe more than just ‘kinda’..!)… But if you’re gonna (er...) ‘be inspired’ by any Rock band – choose one of the best – it shows good taste..! Anyhoo – although I don’t say that it shows the Oz bruvs as being right up there with Zep, Purple or The Stones – I still insist that when these guys drop the shoo-be-doo teeny bop crooning and get Rockin’- they get pass marks as credible Rockers… (Do I sense another debate on the subject…??? – I hope so, I must admit..!) So, come on you Heavies, Metal Heads, Proggers, Hard Rockers and Rock ‘n’ Rollers – get Rockin’ right here – with… The Osmonds..! – Yes, I AM serious..! (M).
