The Owen County Council recently took action to raise an additional $316,000 through the Local Option Highway User Tax (LOHUT) for the sole purpose of funding road surface materials. Although not near the amount needed to address all troubled county road sections immediately, it does allow the Highway Department and Commissioners to put down more miles of road material to help get back on top of conditions over time.
