The PHX VAMC is much better than the Wilmington VA Clinic. There were times when it took up to 3 months to see my PCP but at least they had same day walk in (to see a nurse only) and eventually I was seen by my PCP. Whereas in Wilmington I called the clinic asking then for an urgent visit when I was pregnant in Feb 2010. I called at least a dozen times and each call became more desperate as all the OB/GYNs were booked for 2 months out! I told them I was beginning to have excruciating pelvic pain...but was not given an appointment..e to find out I had miscarried at 9w and carried the baby for 4 more weeks before I went into labor. I was suppose to be seen for a follow up appointment by my VA PCP and that never happened as they kept changing my appointment for one reason or another. When it came to my second pregnancy (Lily) I know I was pregnant a few days after my missed period. I called and asked for an urgent appointment....I was told I would need to wait for 3 months!!! I saw an OB outside the VA. When I showed up to my VA pregnancy appointment I was asked to take a urine test- I handed them my 12 weekly US (weekly bc I was worried to lose the baby) and my full medical records and letter from the OBGYN Atari g it was now 16 weeks pregnant. The VA MADE me take another pregnancy rest of which they did not have (sent someone out to CVS to but one). Then they lost it and a week later I had to go back for another one.....it much worse than this little rant....sorry for the rant.
