The PISD Outdoor Learning Center has a summer volunteer opportunity to help care for their educational animals! You must be at least 15 years old and must fill out a PISD volunteer application (the link to the application is on the PISD home page.) You will then need to contact Ms. Tammy Welch (469-752-1190 or [email protected]) to inform her that you have completed this process. She will then set a date for a volunteer orientation. The volunteer hours will be Monday – Friday anytime between the hours of 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Some duties include: Filling water bowls/bottles for mammals and reptiles. Cleaning cages for rabbits, guinea pigs, and other various small mammals. Doing laundry……loading washer, loading dryer, folding and putting away towels/bedding. Washing dishes, loading and unloading dishwasher. Help to make meals for mammals, land turtles, and lizards. Wiping down/cleaning table tops, counter tops. Breaking down aquarium habitats, cleaning and setting back up. Changing paper in bird cages, filling their food & water bowls. Assisting with organizing storage areas. Students that have allergies or asthma will need to contact Ms. Welch prior to filling out their application. Student volunteers should be mature, not afraid of getting dirty, and not be offended by strong odors.
