The Pandemic It spread like a pandemic throughout my body. It came in with ease and without warning. Worming its way into my heart and burrowing deep in my brain tissue. It had finally found a suitable host to thrive off of. Hacking into my limbic system, rewiring my thoughts and emotions. It almost had me, almost killed me but it didn’t. My immune system grew strong, but the parasite soon resisted this small change, only to grow stronger. “I understand it now, it only needs protection from the harsh outside world. I am sure it won’t harm me if it understands I am only protecting it.” Slowly distorting my way of thinking, throwing me way off track. I finally had enough, my friends had the cure... One of them gave it to me through soft and tender words of encouragement. The other gave me words of wisdom and showed me the truth in all of it. Soon I found out my protecting the parasite would never result in a thank you, just it sucking my love more and more and becoming even more greedy for it. And finally I am rid of the disgusting disease. I am free from my once narrowed mind, and now is the time for change. I have never been more ready for it in all my life. This is a warning to the world. Keep a close eye out for these parasites, they lurk in the most unlikely places and seem perfectly harmless, but turn into vicious creatures once they have found a host.
