The Peace Light from Bethlehem will be at Oso Lake Scout Camp - TopicsExpress

The Peace Light from Bethlehem will be at Oso Lake Scout Camp tomorrow at 5:30pm. The Peace Light celebration is a 28 year old scouting tradition. Every year a child (usually a Scout) is chosen to fly from Austria to Bethlehem. The child is taken to the Grotto of the Nativity in Bethlehem. In the grotto there is a flame that has been burning for over 2000 years. Two lamps are lite from the flame. The lamps are then taken back to Vienna. The flame is shared with scouting groups across Europe. Since 2002, Austrian Airlines has flown the two lamps containing the Peace Light flame from Vienna to New York City. From New York, the flame travels by car across the United States. It is shared with Scout groups and churches along the way. If you would like to collect the flame, but cant make it to Oso tomorrow (Sunday), I will have the flame burning in my home until Sunday the 28th. I am happy to share the flame with you. The easiest and safest way to collect the flame is to buy a oil lamp at Walmart and buy liquid paraffin oil from Lowes Hardware.
