The Penetration of Jealousy Inside The Innocent Heart of Neimi “Alright men.” Ephraim, the Renais prince who was leading the army that will soon save the world, was talking to his forces. Each and everyone were present, including Colm, the thief who was always busy stealing stuff from Moulder or someone; Neimi, the archer known as the “tearful maiden”; and Marisa, the myrmidon who just slashed enemies and didn’t care of anything else. They were all there because Ephraim had to announce something. “I want each of you to respite and take time to relaxation, for our battle with the Demon King…our battle for Lyon…may soon come. If you have yet any uncertainties, Seth can answer them all for you.” After that announcement, the prince went inside his tent with his twin sister and started to think up of a strategy to enter the Black Temple. Tana couldn’t help but eavesdrop on them. A thought always comes in her mind that Ephraim and Eirika are doing something they are “forbidden” to do as siblings. Innes rolled his eyes to this. “Okay, so when can I start eating meat again?” Colm hissed. Moulder was sitting in front of him, beside the campfire, lecturing about honesty and warm heart blahblahs. Colm knew Moulder doesn’t eat any meat, so there he goes again with his mocking attitude. Moulder heard this. “Colm, show respect to your elders,” was what he said, and went back to his boring lectures. “Yeah, whatever.” Colm neglected the priest’s words, and eyed Marisa, who was beside a tall maple tree, sharpening her Shamshir. Colm approached her and said, “Marisa, let’s go to the pond.” “Okay.” Marisa replied. Many eavesdroppers were stunned at this, because normally Marisa wouldn’t reply. But it seems very weird how she’s so warm towards Colm. Colm and Marisa romantically went to the pond. Neimi rolled her eyes. A few seconds later, she rolled it again, and cried. Colm and Marisa were sitting at a huge rock beside the pond when Colm started a conversation. “Hey, you know, I just noticed one thing.” Colm said to Marisa, who was just there, sitting, having no facial expression at all. But Colm knows that deep inside, she’s listening. “Why do you…Marisa, I notice you seem so warm with me, while with the other people you’re—“ Colm paused. Marisa smiled. Colm laughed out loud. “What? Why are you laughing?” Marisa replied, as her smile fades away. “You smiled a moment ago, didn’t you?” “No, I didn’t.” “Yes, you did. It was barely noticeable, but I know that was one. It was a couple of millimeters wide.” “No, it wasn’t!” Marisa raised her voice a bit, but she wasn’t angry, “It was only a millimeter wide.” “So, you did smile after all!” “No, I did not!” Marisa claimed, but now she was laughing. Colm was laughing with her as well. “Haha…okay, this should be stopped.” Colm said to Marisa. What both of them didn’t notice was that Neimi was actually snooping on their hysteria ever since the beginning. Neimi felt jealous. She couldn’t bear to see the two of them together with her two falconlike eyes. It was unusual for her to have felt like this. She’s jealous that Marisa would try to steal Colm away from her, Colm, her dear childhood friend. “I…I can’t allow this…Colm…why…sniff…” Neimi whispered to herself, feeling the sorrow at her heart. Neimi had to comply her feelings of jealousy. She knew she couldn’t just stand there, hide and listen to their sweetness. “Okay,” Neimi heard Marisa speak, but her face seem to have lit up compared to the beginning. “Marisa,” Somehow, Colm unbelievably spoke romantically this time, “You know, you’re…beautiful.” Marisa was surprised at this. Neimi, however, was a lot more surprised, that her tears started to flow. Her heart ached at Colm’s words. “Colm!” Neimi shouted out loud, and she emerged out of her hiding place. Colm turned to her, and looked astounded by her appearance. “Neimi! You were listening all along were you?” Colm’s first words were a scolding, “Man, you always make me feel angry, you know that?” Neimi cried. “Come on, Marisa. Let’s go.” Colm said to Marisa, and they went back to the camp, leaving Neimi behind. Marisa turned to Neimi for a short while, before she left. “Tana, do not eavesdrop on them,” Innes ordered Tana, who was listening to the twins’ conversation inside their tent. “I know, brother!” Tana shouted at her brother, feeling bad. “If you know, then quit doing it.” Innes ordered again. Tana sighed and continued to eavesdrop until she finds something “interesting”. Innes rolled his eyes. Moments later, Marisa and Colm arrived. “C’mon, Marisa.” Colm started, “Let’s eat dinner together.” Marisa was back at her normal blank self, and she replied, “No, sorry. I’ll be eating by myself. See you later, Colm.” Marisa left with a blink of an eye. Colm shrugged, and went back to his tent. “…Colm…sniff…sniff…” Neimi was still all alone in the forest, crying tremendously. Then, a ghost of her grandfather appeared. “Is that what this war has been doing to you, Neimi?” the ghost said to Neimi. Neimi was stupefied to see her grandfather, “Grandpa?” The grandfather continued his questions, “Are you still going to weep and cry like a worthless baby?” Neimi wiped away her tears. “Be strong, Neimi. If you want to live and help end this war, be strong and fight for your loved one.” “Grandfather. I…” “Obey my words, Neimi. Goodbye…” “Grandfather, wait!” Neimi called out, but the ghost disappeared. Neimi heard what her grandfather said. She knew she could only win back Colm by fighting Marisa. It was decided. She would duel her. In the middle of the night, Marisa was alone at the pond, sharpening her Shamshir again. She wore that blank expression that she used to wear. “Marisa!” The silence was cut off when someone spoke. Marisa turned towards the owner of the voice. She saw Neimi, clutching her silver bow tightly, eyes blazing like the sword of seals…or whatever. “You…” Neimi started belting out the words of her inner anger one by one, “I can’t…I can’t forgive you!!!” Marisa blinked. She didn’t know anything that Neimi felt. All she knew was that she had to fight her. Neimi was full off tears…tears of hatred for Marisa. Marisa readied her fighting stance, still wearing a blank expression. Neimi got some arrows, and in a split second, the fighting started. Neimi shot three arrows at the same time at Marisa, but Marisa evaded them all and tried to slice Neimi in half, but Neimi evaded as well. Neimi teleported at Marisa’s back and shot 8 arrows at the same time, but still, Marisa evaded them. Marisa teleported to Neimi’s back and tried to slice her in half, but again, she evaded them. Neimi teleported at Marisa’s back again. This time, shooting 20 arrows at the same time, but still, Marisa evaded them again. Marisa teleported to Neimi’s back and tried to slice her in half with a critical hit, but again, she evaded them. The same process repeated ‘til the morning. Colm awakened from his sleep. And the first thought that entered his mind was Marisa. Colm searched for her, but was flabbergasted when he saw Neimi and Marisa fighting. “What the--?!” He shouted, and rushed to both of them to stop their fight, “Would you two please stop this?!” Neimi was crying. Marisa had no expression. “I don’t know about what your fighting about,” Colm said, “But this is lame! Whatever the reason, please stop this…I don’t want both of you dying!” Neimi wiped her tears and said, “Colm…I…I was…I was jealous…when you and Marisa were together…” Marisa had no comment. Colm had no comment either. Then, Marisa said to Neimi, “Forgive me.” “All your sins are forgiven.” Neimi said and hugged Marisa.
