The People of Osun Voted for Progress! The outcome of this - TopicsExpress

The People of Osun Voted for Progress! The outcome of this election will further lend credence to the postulation that the future holds good for democracy in Nigeria, if only the people can summon the courage to resist the dubious politicians and look beyond the immediate. I feel arrogantly an Osun State indigene, following the outcome of this election. I hope to walk tall in the office on Monday, having boasted that my State will be the leading light in the fight against stomach infrastructure. The people in the diaspora are not unaware of the performing Governors, and have always prayed that the days of money politics will soon be numbered. It behests common logic to want to truncate a working formula, and risk a nonentity to sweep aside a phenomenon in the person of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. His giant strides transcend the frontiers of Osun State and Nigeria. Even my white friends googled his achievements and told me that Osun State will be mad not to re-elect him for four more terms if the constitution permits. I wish to congratulate all good people of Osun State for voting for progress and good stewardship. Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola will reward your loyalty and support, like he is used to doing. We have demonstrated to the rest of the Nation that power resides in the people, and that a vote for a performing leader is a vote for progress and a sure sustenance of the future that we all look forward to with eagerness. The rice and kerosine that were meant to sway the conscience of the good people of Osun State failed to do the tricks, and I want to believe that there is a lot of good in what happened in Ekiti State, as the outcome of that election further woke up the foot soldiers not to relent their efforts of telling the people of Osun to resist all attempts at corrupting them by the PDP, and vote for the progress of the State. I will humbly appeal to our able Governor to let the whole State continue to remain his constituency, like he used to do, not minding the voting pattern in some local governments, especially Ife Local Governments. Just like we voted massively for our Ijesa son, the Ife people should be expected to vote for their own, going by the fact that democracy is just taking roots in Nigeria. We will one day start voting on merit and shun tribal politics. The signs are there as we can see that some individuals voted for Ogbeni in Ife and some Ijesas voted for Senator Iyiola Omisore, even if it was rice and kerosine-induced! Finally, I will like to commend the efforts of the likes of Dapo Rotifa,Oladimeji Lasore, Adekunle-Alli, and a host of other good people who did not relent in shouting at rooftops, of the need to vote with common sense, and place progress ahead of the usual stomach infrastructure! It is my prayer that the efforts will not go unrewarded, and should any of us be destined to lead, the good Lord will make a way, without adopting bloodshed as a means to an end. For the period of celebrating the good victory, let the drums belt out loud, as I trust the hard worker Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola will be firing on all cylinders pretty soon! For those who voted otherwise, it is time to close ranks, and Senator Omisore can do himself a world of good by congratulating Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and refuse to take crazy advice such as heading for the court to challenge results he knew damn well represented the choice and decision of the people of Osun State. He will be making a name for himself by doing so, as he will be the first to do exactly that. As for the suffered corns, rice and kerosine, these edible but powerful items should forgive for the inconvenience of using them for the untoward disservices! Next time , if those believing in insulting the intelligence of the people are still bent on wasting their money, maybe it will be the turn of cows and pounded yams! If they chose to start from my dear Ijesaland, we will do justice to their pounded yam, cows and perhaps cold Trophy lager, if they are generous to add that too! We will still head for the polling booths, with toothpicks dangling, vote with our conscience intact, and can then tell them we are not bastards! If eating pounded yam becomes approved for the next Olympics, you know where to get qualified performers from! Thank God, Ekiti has opted for rice! Long live Ogbeni, Long live the good people of Osun State, and Long live Nigeria.
