Unlike many other countries in the region, it avoided a recession in 2009, and since 2010, its year-on-year GDP growth has exceeded 6 per cent in 12 out of 16 quarters. In the past two years, growth averaged almost 7 per cent—higher than all the other economies in the region, except China.
