The Pickwick Players of East County will be performing A Charlie Brown Christmas in early December at the Off-Broadway Live facility in Santee. They will be collecting new unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items to donate to Santee Santas. Please see their Press Release below: PICKWICK PLAYERS present A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS December 5-14, 2014 Benefitting The Santee Santas Foundation Come join Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Snoopy and the entire PEANUTS gang as they come to life on the Off Broadway Live stage from December 5–December 15, 2014 to look for the true meaning of Christmas in A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS. There will be caroling, ice skating and even the sad lonely Christmas tree that we have all grown to love. Our production is a mentorship production. We have 2 talented youth casts with the older youth cast acting as mentors to their younger counterparts. The younger cast is aged 8 through 12. The older cast is aged 13-18. Many of our actors attend classes in either the Santee School District or the Grossmont Unified School District. During the run of A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS, Pickwick Players, your East County Theatre family, will be encouraging our patrons to donate non-perishable food items such as pasta, rice, canned vegetables, dry cereals and soups. All donations will go to The Santee Santas Foundation to help provide holiday meals to families and senior citizens in the Santee School District. Santee Santas’ signature effort is an annual holiday childrens toy and food drive focused on bringing the Christmas spirit to some 300 families in our community. Their senior outreach program also ensures seniors in our community who are living alone or in senior care facilities are not forgotten over the holidays. Santee Santas is an all-volunteer organization, with school district employees, City of Santee staff, firefighters, local businesses, service organizations, mobile home parks and local citizens working together to make each years endeavors successful.
