The Pike Central High School boys basketball team dropped a 55-38 loss to host Washington on Saturday, Jan. 25. Freshman forward Jacob Overton scored 15 of his game-high 20 points in the second half as the Hatchets (3-10) rallied from a 23-14 halftime deficit to end a seven-game losing streak. Freshman Matthew Stephens came off the bench to add 18 points in the winning effort. Pike Central, which fell to 4-7 with its fourth straight loss, was led in scoring by freshman Gabe Elliott and senior Kegan Aldridge, who netted 12 and 11 points, respectively. In the jayvee game, Stephens, in two quarters of action, scored 15 points as the Hatchets defeated Pike Central 51-39. Freshman Chase Davis scored 14 points to lead the Chargers. Pike Central will host Barr-Reeve on Tuesday, Jan. 28, with the jayvee game tipping off at 6:30 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 8 p.m.
