The Pike Central High School girls basketball team fell 65-42 to host North Posey on Saturday, Jan. 18. Sophomore Alyx Abbott led the Lady Chargers (3-13 overall, 1-5 in the Pocket Athletic Conference) with 12 points and six rebounds while senior Emily Howes and freshman Jolene Whitehead added nine points each. Senior Stephanie Richardson, after missing nine games with a knee injury, returned to score six points as well as dish out four assists. Senior Madison Worman led North Posey (10-7 overall, 3-1 in the PAC) with 15 points. In the junior varsity contest, freshman Kristin Schurr scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Lady Vikings past Pike Central, 51-24. Freshman Peyton Ruppel and sophomore Cheyanna Padgett scored eight and seven points, respectively, to pace the Lady Chargers. Pike Central will host Princeton on Thursday, Jan. 23, with the jayvee game tipping off at 6:30 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 8 p.m.
