The Polaris Mill in Osburn, ID is a beautiful piece of Mining - TopicsExpress

The Polaris Mill in Osburn, ID is a beautiful piece of Mining history. It was moved in 1937 from its original site near Rosebud Canyon and completely rebuilt here in the Coeur DAlenes. Today, its in danger of being dismantled and destroyed. The reason is trespassers, kids, explorers, shutter bugs etc... There is a long list of police calls to remove trespassers and its a liability that the property owner is no longer willing to bear. We have all been somewhere that we know we shouldnt be, but we think we are taking a risk to see something cool. Its exciting! Keep this in mind this Memorial Day Weekend, what you think is harmless trespassing on abandoned mines or abandoned properties is likely contributing to the destruction of these sites. Know your land status, know your rights and respect peoples private property. It took us only a few minutes to gain permission to photograph the mill. Being concientious and respectful of these historic mines and mining sites will help to keep them around for a while longer.
