. . . . . . . . . |:....: :....: :....: The Polyforum Siqueiros Galleries | David Alfaro Siqueiros | BNKR Arquitectura | The March of Humanity Murals | Mexico DF. . . . . | The art should go out the street; Outside the big galleries - cemeteries - museums and private hands to make them an element of maximum utility and a collective good, useful for culture of the people. The Polyforum Siqueiros is the masterpiece of David Alfaro Siqueiros, one of the three great Mexican muralists along with Diego Rivera and José Clemente Orozco. It is a cultural precinct mutlifuncional which houses the mural the March of mankind in its Universal Forum. The building was conceived as a giant Diamond and this completely covered with murals on the outside and inside. It is considered the largest in the world with more than 8,000 square meters mural. The building and its galleries were designed by the architects Joaquín Álvarez Ordóñez, William Rossel de la Lama, and Ramón Miquelajáuregui, together with Siqueiros in 1967. The Polyforum, a private institution with limited resources, got a sponsorship from a paint manufacturer to remodel its galleries on the ground floor. These not had been renovated since its inauguration in 1971. Our intervention was limited to remove items from the galleries beyond a projects design as such. We replace the industrial carpet dark blue of the floor and stairs with a white epoxy coating to high brightness. We replaced the textured finish of walls with one smooth. We removed the ceiling of concentric rings to let only apparent structural rings that loaded the Universal Forum. The original ceiling of wood along with the stairs was sanded and varnished in Matt. Glass perimeter dividing the galleries with the outside we put a frosted film to contain space and prevent this is fugara. Before this intervention abroad caused too much distraction to the user. The unique piece of design we created was the elliptical reception that accentuates the dynamic space of the circular galleries and invites the user to proceed to the exhibition area. To the high-gloss red finish contrasts with the serene space of galleries and reminds us of the aggressive and energetic brushstrokes of Siqueiros paintings. . . . . | Antonio Martí Architect | In the contemporary plastic world - before the history of a new Renaissance - architecture and painting created, but without finding even the their new match point, given the incomplete and irrelevant nature of its social and aesthetic conceptions, above functionality. . . . .
